Governor: Banking Sector Needs Up to a Decade to Recover
Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H. Mansur has said that the non-performing loan (NPL) crisis, which has built up in the country’s banking sector over many years, will take at least five to ten years to overcome. Describing the situation as far more serious than a minor financial problem, he noted that more than one-third of total bank loans in Bangladesh are now classified as non-performing, placing the broader financial sector under significant pressure.
