Rangpur | An Iftar and Dua Mahfil was organized by nationalist agriculturists of the Rangpur region on Wednesday (March 11), seeking the eternal peace of the soul of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, the proclaimer of independence, and the long life and health of Begum Khaleda Zia.
The event, held in observance of the holy month of Ramadan, saw spontaneous participation from agriculturists and professionals across various levels in Rangpur.
Honoring the Legacy of Shaheed Zia
Professor Dr. Md. Rashedul Islam, Vice-Chancellor of Kurigram Agricultural University, attended the program as the Chief Guest. In his address, he paid deep tribute to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman, describing him as the architect of modern Bangladesh. He highlighted Ziaur Rahman’s pioneering role in initiating the agricultural revolution and his visionary steps in restructuring the rural economy.
Praise for Modern Agricultural Initiatives
Dr. Rashedul Islam highly commended the visionary steps taken by the current leadership, specifically mentioning the initiatives of Mr. Tarique Rahman. He termed the introduction of the 'Family Card' for the economic liberation of grassroots people and the 'Farmer Card' to ensure direct assistance to marginal farmers as "revolutionary."
The Vice-Chancellor noted that These digital systems will bring fundamental changes to the country's agricultural and marketing sectors. The removal of middlemen through these cards ensures that benefits reach the farmers directly, Agriculturists now have a vast platform to provide technical advice and engage directly with the implementation process.
A Call to Action for Professionals
Addressing the gathering, the Vice-Chancellor urged agriculturists not to fall behind in the ongoing efforts to rebuild the nation. He called upon professionals at all levels to work with patriotism and active engagement to ensure the success of the modernizing steps taken by Tarique Rahman for a prosperous Bangladesh.
The event concluded with a special prayer (Monaajat) for the welfare of the nation and the continued success of the leadership.
