Dhaka, June 28: The government aims to expand the country's livestock sector into a robust export-oriented industry after meeting domestic demand, Fisheries and Livestock State Minister Sultan Salahuddin Tuku said today. He emphasized that boosting livestock exports will significantly strengthen the national economy and accelerate overall development.
The State Minister made these remarks as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of Bangladesh’s first-ever consignment of hatching eggs to Nigeria, held at the Cargo Village of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on Sunday. This marks the current government's first export consignment of hatching eggs.
"The Prime Minister has set a vision to transform every sector into an export-oriented one. Under her far-sighted leadership, the fisheries and livestock sector is steadily evolving into a strong export earner. Today's shipment is a major milestone toward that goal and opens new horizons for our export diversification," the State Minister said.
He added that Bangladesh’s capability to export such goods after meeting local demand reflects its growing economic strength. "This is not just a commercial transaction, but a vital milestone in gaining international recognition for Bangladesh's livestock sector," he said, expressing hope that the volume of such exports would expand significantly in the future.
