The University of Dhaka (DU) has officially announced the schedule for its undergraduate admission tests for the 2025–2026 academic year. Applications will open on October 29 and continue until November 16 at 11:59 p.m.
The admission tests will be held unit-wise. The examinations for the Faculty of Arts, Law, and Social Sciences will take place on December 13, the Faculty of Science on December 20, and the Faculty of Business Studies on December 6. The Fine Arts Unit examination is scheduled for November 29, while the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) test will be held on November 28.
Except for the IBA examination, all other unit exams will be conducted from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Each test will carry a total of 120 marks, including 100 marks for the admission test itself and 20 marks based on results from the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) or equivalent examinations.
These decisions were finalized during a meeting of the General Admission Committee held on Monday, October 13, at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building. The meeting was chaired by Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan.
The committee also finalized the schedule for the undergraduate program admission tests. Except for the Fine Arts and IBA units, the examinations for the other three units will be held simultaneously in Dhaka and eight divisional cities. The divisional centers include Rajshahi University, the University of Chittagong, Barishal University, Khulna University, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Bangladesh Agricultural University/Kabi Nazrul University, and Begum Rokeya University.
However, the Business Studies Unit examination will be held only at Dhaka University, Rajshahi University, the University of Chittagong, Khulna University, and Begum Rokeya University.
The committee decided that, except for the Fine Arts Unit, all other units will have 60 marks allocated for multiple-choice questions (MCQ) and 40 marks for written tests. The Fine Arts Unit examination will consist of a 40-mark MCQ and a 60-mark drawing test. The MCQ test for the Fine Arts Unit will last 30 minutes, and the drawing test will last 60 minutes. For the other units, both the MCQ and written tests will each be 45 minutes long.
The total score for admission evaluation will be based on 120 marks, including 100 marks from the admission test and 20 marks derived from the results of the SSC/equivalent and HSC/equivalent examinations.
Applicants must have passed the SSC/equivalent between 2020 and 2023 and the HSC/equivalent in 2025. To qualify, students must meet specific GPA requirements: for the Science Unit, a combined GPA of at least 8.0 and a minimum of 3.5 in each exam; for the Arts, Law, and Social Sciences Unit, a combined GPA of 7.5 and a minimum of 3.0 individually; for the Business Studies Unit, a combined GPA of 7.5 and a minimum of 3.0 individually; and for the Fine Arts Unit, a combined GPA of 6.5 and a minimum of 3.0 in each exam.
