Five more people have died from dengue fever in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of fatalities from the disease this year to 391. During the same period, 490 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 96,067.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information in its regular dengue update issued on Wednesday by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room.
According to the bulletin, of the patients admitted in the past 24 hours, 58 were reported from areas outside the Barishal City Corporation, 88 from areas outside the Chattogram City Corporation, and 74 from areas outside the Dhaka Division’s city corporation limits. Additionally, Dhaka North City Corporation reported 106 new admissions, while Dhaka South City Corporation recorded 77.
In other divisions, 38 new patients were admitted in areas outside the Khulna City Corporation, 33 in areas outside the Mymensingh City Corporation, 18 in areas outside the Rajshahi City Corporation, five in areas outside the Rangpur City Corporation, and three in areas outside the Sylhet City Corporation.
During the same 24-hour period, 640 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries this year to 93,836.
Of the five latest fatalities, one occurred in the Dhaka North City Corporation area, two in the Dhaka South City Corporation area, and two in the Mymensingh Division outside the city corporation limits.
