A rare species of vulture was rescued by locals in Fulbari on Thursday morning. The bird was found around 8:30 a.m. in the West Dhaniram Sarkarpara area of the upazila, where residents gathered in large numbers after news of the discovery spread.
Upazila Livestock Officer Ariful Rahman Konok said the vulture had visible injuries and appeared to be quite old, which is why it was unable to fly. The bird has been given medical treatment.
Acting Upazila Nirbahi Officer Anwar Hossain said that the Forest Department has been informed, and the vulture will be handed over to forestry officials once they arrive.
