Three more people have died of dengue fever in the past 24 hours, while 833 new patients were admitted to hospitals across the country. The Directorate General of Health Services disclosed the information in a bulletin issued by its Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room on Thursday.
According to the notice, 833 dengue patients were admitted nationwide in the past 24 hours. With this, the total number of hospitalisations due to dengue this year has risen to 82,606.
The highest number of new cases on the day was reported in Dhaka South City Corporation, with 167 patients, where one death also occurred. One patient died in Dhaka North City Corporation and another in Rajshahi division.
The DGHS report states that from January 1 to Thursday, a total of 326 people have died from dengue this year.
Of the total fatalities, the highest number—156 deaths—occurred in Dhaka South City Corporation. During the same period, 44 deaths were recorded in Barishal division, 52 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 25 in Chattogram division, 7 in Dhaka division outside the two city corporations, 11 in Khulna division, 13 in Mymensingh division, 17 in Rajshahi division and 1 in Sylhet division.
