Five more people have died from dengue fever in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll this year to 323, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The DGHS Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room released the latest figures on Wednesday, November 12. It reported that 1,139 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of hospitalizations this year to 81,773.
Among those admitted, 77,989 patients have so far recovered and been discharged from hospitals, while 3,784 dengue patients remain under treatment in various medical facilities nationwide.
According to DGHS data, dengue-related deaths have been reported every month except March. In October alone, 80 people died—the highest monthly toll of the year. November has so far seen 45 deaths, while earlier months recorded smaller numbers: 10 in January, 3 in February, none in March, 7 in April, 3 in May, 19 in June, 41 in July, and 39 in August.
Health authorities continue to urge the public to remain vigilant as dengue infections persist despite the onset of cooler weather, which typically slows mosquito breeding.
