The northern upazila of Tetulia is witnessing a sharp drop in temperature as the onset of winter intensifies. Within just two days, the mercury has fallen by four degrees Celsius, settling in the 12-degree range.
According to the Tetulia Meteorological Observatory, the temperature was recorded at 12.6 degrees Celsius at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, with humidity levels reaching 99 percent. On Tuesday morning, the temperature stood at 14.5 degrees Celsius.
Local resident Khorshed Ali said that while the days remain relatively warm, the temperature drops quickly after sunset. “The cold starts as soon as the sun goes down. In the early morning, fog makes it hard to see anything. The chill lasts until around 10 a.m., and people are already wearing winter clothes,” he said.
Jitendranath Roy, acting officer of the first-class meteorological observatory in Tetulia, said the temperature has been gradually declining over the past few days. “At 9 a.m. today, the temperature was recorded at 12.6 degrees Celsius. It has been dropping steadily and is expected to fall further in the coming days,” he added.
