A gradual onset of winter is being felt across Panchagarh as chilly winds sweep through the district in the early mornings and late nights. Residents are beginning to experience a distinct drop in temperature, though daytime heat still lingers.
According to the Meteorological Office, Tetulia recorded the country’s lowest temperature at 14.5 degrees Celsius at 6 a.m. on Tuesday (November 11). The day before, the temperature at the same location stood at 16.5 degrees Celsius, marking a notable two-degree drop within 24 hours.
Locals reported that the early mornings and nights have become significantly cooler, prompting many to start wearing light winter clothes. Dense fog now covers the surroundings from dawn until morning, blanketing fields, villages, and city roads alike. Due to the thick fog, vehicles have been forced to move with headlights on, as visibility remains poor.
Rahim Uddin, an auto-rickshaw driver from Harivasha, said, “Even with the headlights on, it’s hard to see the road ahead because of the fog.”
Jitendra Nath Roy, acting officer at the Tetulia Weather Observation Center, said temperatures are gradually declining. “A mild cold wave may sweep across the region by the end of November,” he added. “Multiple cold waves are also likely to affect Panchagarh and surrounding areas throughout December.”
