A cold wave flowing from the Himalayas has brought an early touch of winter to Tetulia in Panchagarh, with chilly winds and mist blanketing the region. On Monday morning, the temperature dropped to 16.5 degrees Celsius, giving residents a clear sense of the approaching winter.
According to the Tetulia Weather Observatory, the temperature was recorded at 16.5 degrees Celsius at 6 a.m. on Monday, with humidity at 98 percent. The previous day, on Sunday morning, the temperature had been 16.6 degrees Celsius.
Local residents reported feeling the chill early in the morning, saying that the cold air made it evident that winter had arrived.
With the drop in temperature, winter clothing sales have already begun in Panchagarh and surrounding areas. Visits to rural markets revealed increased demand for blankets, quilts, and jackets as people prepare for the colder days ahead.
Jitendranath Roy, Acting Officer of the Tetulia First-Class Weather Observatory, said the temperature in recent days has been fluctuating between 19 and 16 degrees Celsius. “This morning, the temperature was recorded at 16.5 degrees Celsius, indicating that the cold is intensifying. In the coming days, temperatures are likely to fall further,” he added.
