The government has approved nine procurement proposals, including the import of 50,000 tonnes of parboiled rice from Singapore, 12.5 thousand tonnes of refined sugar from Turkey, and 12 million litres of soybean oil from the United Arab Emirates. The total expenditure for these purchases will amount to Tk 1,480.68 crore.
The approvals were granted at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase held on Wednesday at the Secretariat, with Economic Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed presiding over the session.
Following the meeting, it was announced that for the current fiscal year, the import of 50,000 tonnes of parboiled rice has been approved through international open tendering. Singapore-based Agrocorp International will supply the rice at a rate of USD 355.59 per tonne, amounting to Tk 217.08 crore in Bangladeshi currency.
In addition, the committee approved a proposal to import 12 million litres of soybean oil for the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) through international open tendering. The oil will be supplied by Dubai-based company Credentone FZCO at a price of Tk 164.21 per litre, with a total cost of Tk 158.87 crore.
Another proposal was approved for the import of 12,500 tonnes of refined sugar for TCB. The sugar will be supplied by Istanbul-based company Begalta Danismanlik Hizmetleri.
