Ten more people have died from dengue fever, a mosquito-borne viral disease transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes, in the past 24 hours. During the same period, 1,069 new patients were admitted to hospitals across the country.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the figures in a press release issued by its Health Emergency Operations Center and Control Room on Wednesday, November 5.
According to the DGHS, five of the latest deaths were reported in areas under the Dhaka South City Corporation, three under Dhaka North City Corporation, and one each from Khulna and Barishal divisions.
Since January this year, a total of 75,992 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals nationwide, while the death toll has reached 302.
In comparison, during the previous year—between January and December 2024—Bangladesh recorded 101,214 hospital admissions and 575 deaths due to dengue fever.
