Five more people died from dengue in the past 24 hours, while 792 new patients were admitted to hospitals across the country, according to a press release issued on Saturday by the Health Emergency Operations Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Among the newly admitted patients, 125 were from areas outside Barishal city corporation, 136 from outside Chattogram city corporation, 107 from outside Dhaka division’s city corporation areas, 226 from Dhaka North City Corporation, 121 from Dhaka South City Corporation, 15 from outside Khulna city corporation, 60 from outside Mymensingh city corporation and two from outside Sylhet city corporation.
In the same 24-hour period, 783 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals. So far this year, 80,243 patients have recovered and been released.
From January to 15 November, Bangladesh has recorded 83,858 dengue cases. Of them, 62.4 percent are male and 37.6 percent female.
The five deaths reported in the past 24 hours were all from Dhaka North City Corporation. With these fatalities, the total number of dengue-related deaths this year has risen to 331.
