The winter chill in Tetulia, Panchagarh, continues to intensify, with cold winds and dense early-morning moisture leaving residents shivering. The persistent drop in temperature has made nights particularly difficult, and the weather office has indicated the possibility of a cold wave at the beginning of December.
At 6 a.m. on Wednesday, the Tetulia Weather Observatory recorded a minimum temperature of 13 degrees Celsius, accompanied by a high humidity level of 97 percent. Just a day earlier, on Tuesday, the minimum temperature stood at 12.8 degrees Celsius, marking one of the lowest readings of the season. On Monday, the temperature was 13.4 degrees Celsius. The steady fluctuation over consecutive days has further intensified the feeling of cold.
Local residents say the harsh weather is already affecting daily life. Makhleshar Rahman, a businessman from Moynandighi, said the biting early-morning winds make it difficult even to open his shop. With fewer people venturing outside in the cold, business has slowed noticeably.
Ishrat Jahan, a college student from Chaklahat, shared that attending classes has become a struggle. She said the moment she steps out of her home, the cold wind feels like icy air hitting her directly, making the winter feel much harsher in her area.
Rickshaw puller Delowar Hossain said his income has dropped since early morning passengers are scarce due to the cold. Still, he continues to work, bundled in thick clothing to cope with the freezing air.
According to Jitendranath Roy, a meteorologist at the Tetulia Weather Observatory, winter has begun to set in. He warned that the cold will intensify further at the start of December, with the likelihood of a cold wave affecting the region.
