Milk production in Natore has increased significantly due to the initiatives of local farmers and various development measures, including training and technological support provided by the Department of Livestock Services. As a result, the district now produces a substantial surplus of milk, amounting to 164,000 tons.
According to the district livestock office, Natore produced 279,000 tons of milk during the 2022–23 fiscal year. Over the past three years, production has steadily increased, reaching 350,000 tons at present. With a population of 1,859,922, the district’s annual demand for milk stands at 185,000 tons, based on a per capita requirement of 405 milliliters. This leaves a surplus of 164,000 tons, highlighting a significant rise in dairy productivity.
District Livestock Officer Md. Selim Uddin stated that the dairy sector has become increasingly profitable, prompting new entrepreneurs to enter the field. He added that the livestock department continues to provide regular training and introduce new technologies to dairy farmers. These government initiatives have played a crucial role in transforming Natore into a surplus milk-producing district.
