Sylhet Agricultural University Inaugurates Clean Water Point

Sylhet Agricultural University (SAU) has inaugurated a dedicated water corner named ‘Mughdho Corner’ to ensure a reliable supply of arsenic- and iron-free purified water for its students. The initiative was launched on Saturday as part of the university’s month-long program marking the anniversary of the July mass uprising.

According to the Public Relations and Publications Department of SAU, the Mughdho Corner has been set up next to the university's central library. Equipped with a water pump, the facility aims to significantly contribute to students' health and well-being by providing safe drinking water on campus.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. Md. Alim-Ul-Islam, inaugurated the corner as the chief guest. In his speech, he remembered Shaheed Mir Mahfuzur Rahman Mughdho as a bold voice of resistance and a symbol of youth courage in the face of injustice.

“This corner, named after Mughdho, is not just a source of safe water—it’s a symbol of values, democracy, and humanity. It stands as a tribute to his sacrifice and as an inspiration for our students to uphold justice and moral integrity,” he said.

Professor Dr. ATM Mahbub-E-Ilahi, Treasurer of SAU, attended as a special guest, while Professor Dr. Mohammad Samiul Ahsan Talukder, Director of the Student Counseling and Guidance Office, moderated the program.

Teachers, students, and staff of the university were also present at the event.
