A section of students who failed the 2025 SSC and HSC examinations have demanded that the authorities arrange prompt supplementary exams to prevent them from losing an academic year. In support of their demand, the students have announced human chain demonstrations in front of all divisional education board offices across the country on Monday, July 14.
The protesting students claim they failed due to scoring just 1–2 marks short in the Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) section, despite securing 40 to over 50 marks in the Creative Questions (CQ) segment. They argue that the requirement to pass CQ and MCQ sections separately is unjust and has caused nearly 600,000 students to fail this year.
Students further criticized the implementation of the separate pass requirement without proper reform in the education system, calling the policy inhumane.
Organizers of the upcoming protest said that if a supplementary exam is arranged within the next one to two months—particularly for those who failed in up to three subjects—many of the students could pass. This would help prevent psychological distress and social stigma faced by the affected students.
