
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast that day and night temperatures across the country are likely to remain nearly unchanged over the next 24 hours from 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds are expected at many places in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, at a few places in Rajshahi and Chattogram divisions, and at one or two places in Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions. Moderately heavy to heavy rainfall may occur at isolated locations in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.
According to the synoptic situation, the monsoon trough extends from Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and the northern part of Bangladesh to Assam, with an extension reaching the north Bay of Bengal. The monsoon is less active over Bangladesh and moderate over the north Bay. A low-pressure area may develop over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas within the next 48 hours.
On Monday, the highest temperature recorded in the country was 36.5 degrees Celsius in Khulna, while the lowest was 24.6 degrees Celsius in Bandarban on Tuesday morning. The highest rainfall in the 24 hours till 6 a.m. Tuesday was 37 millimeters in Tetulia.
In Dhaka, the relative humidity at 6 a.m. was 88 percent, with winds from the south or southeast blowing at speeds between 10 and 15 kilometers per hour. Sunset in Dhaka today will be at 6:34 p.m., and sunrise on Wednesday will be at 5:33 a.m.
