Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU) observed the first anniversary of the “July Uprising 2024” through a daylong series of events held in a festive atmosphere. The programme included an essay competition, special meals in residential halls, the inauguration of the “July Corner,” a prize distribution ceremony, and a cultural performance.
The formal inauguration of the “July Corner” took place at 7 PM at the lower level of the university's TSC building. The Vice-Chancellor of SAU, Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Latif, inaugurated the corner, followed by a discussion session and prize distribution ceremony at the TSC auditorium.
The event was graced by the presence of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Md. Belal Hossain, Treasurer Professor Muhammad Abul Bashar, and Proctor Professor Dr. Md. Arfan Ali, who attended as special guests.
In the essay competition titled “July Uprising ’24 and the Future of Bangladesh,” Sumaiya Sultana from the 76th batch won first place. Md. Lokman Hossain from the 78th batch secured second place, and Zarin Tasnim from the 83rd batch placed third. Prizes were awarded to the winners by the attending dignitaries.
The event was moderated by the Member Secretary of the Anniversary Celebration Committee and Director of the Student Counselling and Guidance Office, Professor Dr. Md. Ashabul Haque.
The ceremony was attended by Dean of the Faculty of Agribusiness Management, Professor Md. Zakir Hossain; Director of Planning, Development, and Works, Professor Dr. Md. Sarwar Hossain; Director of the Research Center, Professor Dr. Nahid Zeba; Director of the Institute of Seed Technology, Professor Dr. Nazneen Sultana; Director of SAURES, Professor Dr. F. M. Aminuzzaman; Director of the Transport Pool, Professor Dr. Mohammad Saiful Islam; Director of TSC, Professor Md. Akhtar Hossain; General Secretary of the SADA panel, Professor Dr. Mosha Nur Mahal Akhtar Banu; provosts of the residential halls, department chairs, student leaders, and a wide range of university teachers, students, officers, and staff.
The discussion and closing ceremony was presided over by the Chair of the Anniversary Celebration Committee, Professor Dr. H. M. M. Tariq Hossain.
