A palm seed plantation program aimed at reducing lightning strikes has been launched in Tarash upazila of Sirajganj. The initiative was inaugurated on Saturday, September 6, at Binodpur Bazar in Baruha Union.
Under the program, environmental organization Shadhin Jibon has undertaken the plantation of 2,000 palm seeds along both sides of the Baruha-Binodpur paved road. To mark the occasion, a formal event was held at Binodpur Bazar.
The event was attended by Md. Golam Kaiyum, Assistant Professor of Solanga Degree College, Md. Shafiqul Islam, Lecturer, and Md. Abdus Samad, Assistant Professor of Tarash Degree College, among others.
Also present were Md. Ali Hasan, General Secretary of Simabari-Betkhair Sheikh Nur Mohammad Memorial Library, Md. Abdur Razzak Nasim, Executive Director of Shadhin Jibon, members Tanvir Khan Chowdhury, Jihad Hasan, Md. Sujan Ali, Jannatul Mawa Khan Chowdhury, and former President of Tarash Press Club Md. Atikul Islam.
