A new low-pressure area is likely to form over the southern Bay of Bengal and its adjoining regions within the next 24 hours, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD). The system may lead to an increase in rainfall or thundershowers across the country over the next five days.
The forecast was issued on Thursday, October 23, by meteorologist Dr. Md. Omar Faruk. Currently, a well-marked low-pressure area over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining regions has moved west-northwestward and weakened, now lying over Tamil Nadu and nearby areas. The BMD stated that it is expected to move further west-northwest and gradually dissipate.
By 9 a.m. on Friday, October 24, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected in one or two places over the Chattogram division, while the rest of the country is likely to experience mostly dry weather. Day and night temperatures across the country may drop slightly.
On Saturday, October 25, one or two places in the Chattogram division may see rain or thundershowers, while elsewhere the weather will remain mostly dry with partly cloudy skies. Day and night temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged.
Similarly, on Sunday, October 26, light rain or thundershowers may occur in one or two places in the Rangpur and Chattogram divisions. The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy skies and generally dry weather with little change in temperature.
On Monday, October 27, one or two places in the Chattogram division may again experience rain or thundershowers, while other parts of Bangladesh will likely remain dry with partly cloudy skies and stable temperatures.
The Meteorological Department further indicated that rainfall or thundershower activity may increase after this forecast period, signaling a likely shift toward wetter weather conditions nationwide.
