Bangladesh received a total of USD 1.921 billion in remittance during the first 22 days of October, equivalent to approximately BDT 23,436.62 crore at an exchange rate of Tk 122 per dollar.
The information was confirmed on Thursday (October 23) by Bangladesh Bank spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan. He stated that during the same period last year, remittance inflows amounted to USD 1.791 billion, indicating a notable year-on-year increase.
From July 1 to October 22 of the current fiscal year, Bangladesh recorded total remittance earnings of USD 9.507 billion. During the same period last year, the figure stood at USD 8.334 billion. This reflects a growth of 14.10 percent, marking a positive trend for the country’s economy.
Economists view this consistent rise in remittance inflows as a sign of resilience in the external sector and a welcome boost to Bangladesh’s foreign exchange reserves amid global economic challenges.
