Bagerhat Exhibition: A Call to Save Endangered Marine Life

The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) Bangladesh has organized an exhibition at the Bagerhat KB Ghat Fish Landing Center to protect endangered shark and ray species of the sea.

The exhibition has been open free to the public from 8 am to 5 pm to raise awareness among fishermen and the general public.

Focusing on the theme "Sharks and Rays: Healthy Ocean and Healthy People," the educational exhibition is being held from April 21st to April 28th. Md. Rasel Mia, Training and Education Officer of the organization, told BSS that the exhibition aims to effectively raise awareness among the local coastal population, fishermen, fish and dried fish traders, and government officials about the role of sharks and rays in maintaining a healthy marine ecosystem, the threats to their survival, and the laws related to their capture and trade. The exhibition is being sequentially organized at the Pirojpur Parerhat, Barguna Patharghata, and Kuakata Alipur fish landing centers.
