
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has warned of potential storms across 18 regions of the country, including Dhaka, with wind speeds reaching up to 60 kilometers per hour overnight.
The warning was issued on Tuesday afternoon for river ports, indicating that by 1 a.m., areas including Dhaka, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Tangail, Mymensingh, Faridpur, Madaripur, Jessore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, and Sylhet may experience temporary gusty and stormy winds from the south and southeast, along with rain or thunderstorms at speeds of 45 to 60 kilometers per hour. River ports in these areas have been advised to display Warning Signal Number One.
The 24-hour forecast issued by the Meteorological Department starting from 6 p.m. Tuesday also predicts that some parts of Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions, along with isolated areas in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Chattogram, Khulna, and Barishal divisions, may experience temporary gusty winds with light to moderate rain or thunderstorms. Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in scattered locations across the country. During this period, daytime temperatures are likely to decrease slightly, while nighttime temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged.
Authorities have urged residents to take necessary precautions and monitor local weather updates, especially in vulnerable areas prone to flooding or river overflow.
