BRUR Aims to Be Center of Excellence with New Plan

Academic experts convened at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) today to initiate the formulation of a comprehensive academic master plan. The goal is to ensure quality higher education and elevate the university to a center of excellence.

Vice-chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Showkat Ali presided over the meeting held in the Syndicate Room of the university's administrative building.

Distinguished experts from Dhaka University (DU) – Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha, Dean of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences Professor Dr. Kazi Matin Uddin Ahmed, Professor of Marketing Dr. ABM Shahidul Islam, and Professor of Computer Science and Engineering Dr. Saifuddin Md. Tariq – shared their insights with faculty members from BRUR's six faculties and 22 departments.

The experts emphasized the necessity of a forward-thinking and contemporary master plan to fully develop Begum Rokeya University. They noted that an academic master plan would streamline efforts to guarantee high-quality higher education.

BRUR Vice-chancellor Dr. Md. Showkat Ali stated that a well-defined master plan is crucial for positioning Begum Rokeya University among the top-ranked universities nationally in the future. He also highlighted the interdependence of the academic master plan and the infrastructural engineering master plan.

"If all facilities for students are ensured according to the academic and engineering master plans, it will be possible to develop BRUR as a center of excellence," he affirmed.

The experts also engaged in discussions with students from various departments, who voiced their academic needs on campus.

Earlier, on Saturday night, the Vice-chancellor and the visiting experts paid a visit to the grave of Shaheed Abu Sayeed in Babanpur village under Pirganj upazila, where they also interacted with and inquired about the well-being of Shaheed Abu Sayeed's family members.
