A total of 106 sacks of illegally stored DAP and MOP fertilizer have been seized from a house in Sreebardi upazila of Sherpur. The raid was conducted on Tuesday night, November 4, at the residence of a trader named Mosharaf Hossain Babu in Viadanga Baniapara village under Ranisimul Union.
The operation was led by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Monisha Ahmed, accompanied by Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Mahmudul Hasan Akand, Ranisimul Union Panel Chairman Suja, and several local residents.
According to upazila administration sources, Mosharaf Hossain Babu had collected government-supplied fertilizer from authorized dealers and stockpiled it at his home. Acting on intelligence information, the raid was carried out after authorities confirmed the illegal hoarding. The fertilizers were allegedly stored to sell to farmers at inflated prices.
UNO Monisha Ahmed said the raid was conducted based on a tip-off, and legal action is being taken against those involved in the illegal storage. The seized 106 sacks of fertilizer have been placed under the custody of the Upazila Agriculture Officer for further investigation and necessary action.
