
DHAKA – The government has approved separate proposals for the procurement of two cargoes of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and 25,000 metric tons of fertilizer to meet the country's increasing demand.
The approvals were granted at the 18th meeting of the Advisory Committee on Government Procurement (ACCGP) for the current year, held today at the Cabinet Division conference room in the Secretariat. The meeting was chaired by Finance Advisor Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed. A total of ten proposals received the green light during the session.
Based on a proposal from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, Petrobangla will procure one cargo of LNG from M/s Vitol Asia Pte Ltd of Singapore through an international quotation process at a cost of approximately Tk 549.09 crore.
Furthermore, another proposal by Petrobangla for the spot market procurement of an additional LNG cargo, also from M/s Vitol Asia Pte Ltd of Singapore via international quotation, was approved at an estimated cost of Tk 555.32 crore.
In the agricultural sector, the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC), under a proposal from the Ministry of Agriculture, will import 25,000 metric tons of TSP fertilizer from Groupe Chimique Tunisien (GCT) of Tunisia through a state-level agreement. The procurement cost is approximately Tk 156.69 crore, with each ton priced at US$ 513.75. These imports are aimed at ensuring a stable supply of energy and agricultural inputs to support the nation's growing needs.
