Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhter has praised the contributions of workers to the nation’s progress, calling them the driving force behind Bangladesh’s economy. She made these remarks on Friday afternoon while speaking at a workers’ rally held at the Balur Maath near Genda Bus Stand in Savar, as part of the “July Reawakening Program 2025”, organized by the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
"Workers are the true driving force of this country. It is because of your hard work that the country continues to move forward. You are a key source of foreign currency and have kept our economy thriving," said Adviser Farida Akhter in her address.
She emphasized that the current interim government is committed to ensuring fair wages for workers and is actively working to implement the rights guaranteed under the country’s labour laws. “The government is tirelessly working to uphold the rights of workers as enshrined in the labour code,” she added.
Speaking about the families of the July martyrs, she stated, “Although the change in government has offered a glimmer of hope to these families, the pain in their hearts has yet to heal. It is our collective duty to stand beside them and help ease their grief and hardships.”
