The winter chill is intensifying in Panchagarh as temperatures continue to drop across the northern district. Over the past few days, cold winds and high humidity during the early morning hours have made the wintry conditions increasingly evident.
On Sunday (23 November) at 6 a.m., the Tetulia Weather Observatory recorded the district’s minimum temperature at 12.6 degrees Celsius, with humidity at 97 percent. Although dense fog was absent and visibility remained normal, light mist and cold winds made the winter chill more pronounced.
A day earlier, on Saturday at the same time, Tetulia reported a minimum temperature of 14.7 degrees Celsius with 99 percent humidity. The sharp contrast between daytime and nighttime temperatures has contributed to a noticeable increase in cold intensity from evening to morning.
Chilly winds have been sweeping through Debiganj, Boda, Atwari, Panchagarh Sadar, and other parts of the district since the early hours of dawn. Locals say the sudden drop in temperature has made the cold feel harsher than usual.
Jitendranath Roy, a meteorologist at the Tetulia Weather Observatory, said that for the past week Tetulia’s minimum temperature had hovered around 14 degrees Celsius. However, Sunday saw a further decline. He added that temperatures may fall even lower in the coming week, and winter is expected to fully settle over the northern region by early December.
