
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued a 48-hour warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall across parts of the country. The alert comes as active monsoon conditions continue to influence the region.
According to meteorologist A K M Nazmul Haque, who issued the warning on Saturday, October 4, certain areas in three divisions—Rangpur, Rajshahi, and Mymensingh—are likely to experience heavy rainfall ranging from 44 to 88 millimeters per day, with the possibility of very heavy rainfall exceeding 188 millimeters within 24 hours.
The Met Office forecast also indicated that from 9 a.m. on Sunday, October 5, through the following 24 hours, most areas in Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions and many parts of Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions may experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds.
It further stated that moderate to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur in some places of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Khulna divisions during the same period.
The weather department also noted that both daytime and nighttime temperatures across the country may fall slightly over the next couple of days as the monsoon remains active.
