Winter has firmly gripped Panchagarh as cold conditions continue to intensify across the district. For the past several days, chilly winds and extremely high humidity have contributed to a sharp rise in the severity of the cold. At 6 a.m. on Tuesday (25 November), the Tetulia Weather Observatory recorded a minimum temperature of 12.8 degrees Celsius, one of the lowest temperatures of the season.
During this period, humidity in the air stood at 99 percent, with wind speeds ranging from 7 to 8 kilometers per hour. Although cold winds swept through from early morning, the sky gradually cleared later in the day, bringing bright sunlight. However, the dramatic gap between daytime and nighttime temperatures has further intensified the wintry feel.
On Monday, at the same time, Tetulia recorded a minimum temperature of 13.4 degrees Celsius, while on Sunday the minimum was 12.6 degrees Celsius.
At 6 p.m. on Monday (24 November), Tetulia recorded a maximum temperature of 27.2 degrees Celsius, compared to 26.7 degrees Celsius the previous day. This sharp contrast between day and night temperatures is contributing significantly to the increasing severity of the cold.
Jitendranath Roy, a meteorologist at the Tetulia Weather Observatory, said that winter will deepen further at the beginning of December, with a likelihood of a cold wave.
