Fields across Bogura are turning vibrant green as Aman rice seedlings take root, bringing hope to farmers who are working tirelessly in anticipation of a bumper harvest and favorable market prices. With dedicated care and timely application of fertilizers and pesticides, both farmers and the Bogura Agriculture Department expect a strong yield this season.
Seedling transplantation is now in full swing across the district, with scenes of lush green fields revitalizing the landscape and lifting farmers’ spirits. The prime period for Aman planting runs from early Shraban to Bhadra, and recent rains have been a boon for cultivators, ensuring adequate water in low-lying lands ideal for planting. Farmers are quickly preparing their fields to take advantage of the favorable conditions.
In Bogura, the upazilas of Shibganj, Sherpur, and Nandigram see the highest volumes of Aman cultivation, followed by Sariakandi, Sonatola, Shajahanpur, Adamdighi, and Dupchanchia. According to the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), the target for Aman cultivation this season is 183,500 hectares with an expected output of 661,278 metric tons. To date, planting has been completed on 77,000 hectares. If the weather remains favorable and no major natural disasters occur, the district is on track to exceed its production targets.
Farmers are optimistic, with many already deep into the planting process. Amzad Hossain, a farmer from Domon Pukur village in Shajahanpur, said he has prepared six bighas for Aman this year, completing planting on half of them so far, though he noted higher costs compared to last year.
Faridur Rahman Farid, an assistant agriculture officer in Bogura, confirmed that recent rains have accelerated planting across the district. The DAE is providing farmers with government-supplied fertilizers, pesticides, and irrigation guidance to maximize yields. With continued favorable weather, officials believe Bogura could achieve a bumper Aman harvest this year.
