Bangladesh's gross foreign exchange reserves have reached $30.3 billion, according to a press release issued by the Bangladesh Bank.
However, under the Balance of Payments and International Investment Position Manual (BPM6) prescribed by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the country’s net reserves currently stand at $24.99 billion.
The difference in figures stems from the BPM6 methodology, which excludes certain encumbered or earmarked funds from net reserve calculations, providing a more conservative and internationally standardized estimate.
