Commerce Ministry Announces Sacrificial Hide Rates

haka, Bangladesh – The Ministry of Commerce has announced the government-fixed prices for rawhides of sacrificial animals for the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha. Commerce Advisor Sheikh Bashir Uddin disclosed the information at a briefing at the Secretariat today, Sunday, May 25.

For cowhides, the minimum price for a small cowhide has been set at BDT 1,350 in Dhaka and BDT 1,150 outside the capital. The price per square foot of cowhide is fixed at BDT 60 to BDT 65 in Dhaka and BDT 55 to BDT 60 outside Dhaka.

Separate prices have also been set for goatskins. In Dhaka, the price per square foot of goatskin will be BDT 22 to BDT 27, while outside Dhaka, it will be BDT 20 to BDT 22.

The Commerce Advisor also stated that 30,000 tons of salt will be supplied to various madrasahs and orphanages across the country for the preservation of sacrificial hides. Additionally, the decision to prohibit bringing hides from outside Dhaka into the capital for 10 days following Eid will remain in effect.
